Passion for learning
This is the motto that drives my life. The first time that I saw a nanowire contacted by electron beam lithography (at the late nineties during my postdoc in the group of Albert Fert in Paris), I discovered a new world (at the bottom) that merited all my attention. Nanolithography, a key-enabling technology in Nanoscience, is my passion today.
The use of Focused Ion and Electron Beams have revolutionized the fabrication of nanodevices and the patterning of materials in the lab. For example, one can shrink the dimensions of materials to force them to change their physical properties. Or, one can build devices progressively smaller and faster, allowing more functional electronic devices.
Thanks to Focused Ion Beam (FIB) and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) equipment, in combination with gas-injection systems, we have at our disposal a modern lathe to shape materials and build devices. In this research field, we are only limited by our imagination.
